On this page you can hear a cut down version of a SONY DOUBLE COUNTDOWN programme from sometime in 1998.

Broadcast ONLY in Shanghai this was a weekly MEGGA production - much faster paced and much more "produced" than the Nescafe and Hello From Britain programmes.

Part of the reason for this style of production was due to Frank our producer and part was due to the fact that in the 90's SONY products in China were EXPENSIVE and to help project a modern HIP and COOL image for SONY products it was decided that the SONY DOUBLE COUNTDOWN needed to sound very different from other programmes in Shanghai and from other programmes that WE were making.

These programmes were WRITTEN by Frank in Shanghai. and scripts were emailed to Norman in Scotland. Norman then recorded his English pieces in Scotland and sent them and the MUSIC back to Shanghai via DHL. The WONDERFULLY and naturally enthusiastic YEEN YAO then added her Chinese links in Shanghai and our Dong Fang Radio presenter AR YEN added his Chinese pieces. THEN...... Extra English links were added either by Frank or in this case by Franks girlfriend Gucci.

And..... FIINALLY.... the whole thing was assembled by Frank in Shanghai. MOST of these programmes were made on REEL TO REEL TAPE and NOT compiled using computer editing!
