Music on this page is one of the few things on this site NOT recorded by me. Its the theme from a Radio drama in Uzbekistan and I watched it being recorded in the studios of Radio Uzbekistan.

No mans land....... this is the border between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. We walked across carrying our cases....it felt like being in a movie.
The mountains... somewhere in Uzbekistan. We went by car and by plane - a very old small Russian plane - from Tashkent to Dushanbe.
We couldnt get a flight back to Tashkent so we hired a taxi in Dushanbe which took us to the border. We walked across the border and hired another taxi - 80 dollars to drive us to Tashkent. After a few hours the taxi driver said he was too tired to drive...... So I drove an Uzbek taxi through the mountains. Fantastic fun!!! Even more amazing was that a few weeks before this trip I had spent 6 weeks in hospital for a - successful - cancer operation!!
